6月末、久しぶりに海外医療NGO主催のトレーニングに参加し、その余韻の冷めやらぬうちの7月初め、ドキュメンタリー映画の自主上映会へ参加しました。簡単にご報告します。
トレーニングの過程では、明確で正確な情報伝達、文化的・個人的配慮、そして“聴く”ことの難しさをあらためて認識することになります。関係を築きながらそれらを実践することの緊張感や不安をロールプレイを通して痛感する好機となりました。
自主上映会の内容は、中村哲医師のドキュメンタリー映画です。アフガニスタンとパキスタンで35年にわたる医療支援と用水路建設に従事するなかで凶弾に倒れた中村先生の志と歩み。その一端を垣間みる自主上映会の場所へ足を運ぶには、それを見聞きする覚悟のような気持ちが必要でした。「生きるため」に現地の人々に寄り添い続けた中村先生の「自然が許した人間の生き方」という言葉が頭に残り、ずっと考えています。同じ地球上に住む人間の一人として、他人事ではなく自分の事ことして今後も考え続け、身近な人と語り合う機会を少しずつ作ってまいります。

We DO sincerely hope for an end to the wars and conflicts that continue to occur on Earth as soon as possible.
At the end of June, I participated in a training session organized by an overseas medical NGO for the first time in a long while, and in early July, while the afterglow of that experience was still fresh, I attended an independent screening of a documentary film.
During the training, we were reminded of the difficulties of communicating clearly and accurately, being culturally and personally sensitive, and listening. It was a good opportunity to feel the tension and anxiety of putting these into practice while building relationships through role-playing.
The content of the independent screening was a documentary film about Dr. Tetsu Nakamura. The aspirations and journey of Dr. Nakamura, who was shot while engaged in medical support and irrigation channel construction in Afghanistan and Pakistan for 35 years.To go to the independent screening to get a glimpse of this, I needed to be prepared to see and hear it. The words of Dr. Nakamura, who continued to support the local people in order to "survive," "The way humans live is permitted by nature," have stayed in my mind and I've been thinking about them ever since. As a human living on the same planet, I will continue to think about this as something that concerns me, not someone else, and little by little I will create opportunities to talk about it with people close to me.
